writing career
Robin Hobb started her career as Megan Lindolm, writing short stories for children's magazines
and moved to fantasy and novels about 10 years later. She changed her pseudonym to Robin Hobb
when she started the Farseer trilogy.
She says that Megan also writes fantasy,
"but with a little grittier edge." Hobb's voice is, she feels, "stronger and more prone to
living large. Megan is sometimes more playful. Sometimes sillier. Robin Hobb writes
very epic fantasies and that's where I'm comfortable with that."
(January Magazine, 1999)
She has also written some science fiction: a novel and some short stories. Her works have been nominated for Hugos and Nebulas, and she has won Asimov's Readers Award and several French Imaginales awards.
