Pat from Fantasy HotList has posted a new excerpt from The Dragon Keeper—this is not the same one that Voyager posted earlier. You can read the excerpt here. Great treat for those of us who are still impatiently waiting for our books!

The Dragon Keeper at amazon.co.uk is climbing the bestsellers lists, it’s already in the top 10 of “new releases” and in the top 50 of all titles.

The UK edition of Robin Hobb’s brand new book The Dragon Keeper is out today. Online sellers have reportedly already sent out notes that the books are being shipped and copies should also be available in UK stores today. The book is already listed in several of amazon.co.uk’s bestsellers lists, including the top 20 of “new releases”. Order The Dragon Keeper from amazon.co.uk

The Dragon Keeper is the first part of the Rain Wild Chronicles and takes place after the events of Fool’s Fate. You can find more details about this book in the wiki and read an extract at Voyager’s blog.

I know the trailers say “available in July”, but both the HarperCollins/Voyager sites and amazon.co.uk are still listing 25^th of June as the release date—the Australian release date seems to be July 1^st though.

Fanlisting milestone!

The original starting point for thePlenty.net, the fanlisting for Robin Hobb, has reached 500 members! A big thank you to everyone who has joined so far. :)

What’s a fanlisting? It’s simply a list of admirers of a specific subject. The listings are categorized and monitored by tFL.org network. There are no costs to join and you don’t even need a website of your own. You just sign up with your name and country to show your appreciation. :)

I discovered fanlistings in the early months of 2003 and was furious to find out I couldn’t join one for Robin because it didn’t exist. (Very few author/writer fls did at that point.) So I had to of course start it myself, and that’s how this site was born. Although I included news about the books from the start, I certainly didn’t envision the site to be this big one day. The fanlistings here are now just a small part of the whole, but for me every milestone is still a reason for celebration. Please consider adding your name to the list if you haven’t done so already! :)

Robin Hobb will do a book tour in the UK from July 4^th to July 12^th. The only confirmed place and date I have so far is Borders Glasgow on Monday 6^th July at 6.30pm—but stay tuned for more!

Robin Hobb is the Guest of Honor at Conestoga 13, the science fiction and fantasy convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma from April 24^th to 26^th 2009. Dragon Keeper titles settled

The two volumes of the upcoming story that has been called only “Dragon Keeper” so far are titled The Rain Wild Chronicles—Dragon Keeper and The Rain Wild Chronicles—Dragon Haven. The first volume is set to be published 25^th of June 2009 in UK and Australia and in January 2010 in the US. The second volume will be out everywhere in April or May of 2010.

Subterranean Press says there’s only 75 copies of A Fantasy Medley left and that’s the trade edition, the limited edition has sold out. For those of us anxiously awaiting our copies, there’s a shipping update at the Subterranean site.
This is the anthology that contains Robin’s short story Words Like Coins that is set in the Six Duchies. It’s a hardcover book edited by Yanni Kuznia with stories also by Kate Elliott, Kelley Armstrong and C. E. Murphy. This was a 3000 copies print (+ 200 of the signed limited edition). Medley already got a starred review from Publishers Weekly.

The US mass market paperback edition of Renegade’s Magic is finally available today. Find Renegade’s Magic at amazon.com. There is also a Kindle edition available.
Subterranean press reports they will start shipping A Fantasy Medley this week as well.
And last but note least, the unabridged audio book of Shaman’s Crossing, narrated by John Keating, is now available at audible.com where you can also listen to a sample.

Jackie Morris' Hobb art at display

Tenby Museum and Art Gallery in Wales is currently displaying Jackie Morris’ art, including artwork for the covers of Robin’s the Farseer, Liveship Traders and Tawny Man trilogies. The exhibition runs from 21^st of March to 19^th April and after that it will be moved to The Cloisters Gallery in St David’s Cathedral where you can see it from May 5^th to May 18^th. Photos from the exhibition, Jackie’s commentary on how she came to be the illustrator for the new covers, as well as information about purchasing the art can be found here at her site.

The Rain Wild Chronicles new name for DG

Robin’s UK publisher HarperCollins has updated their information page about the two-part Dragon Keeper and now calls the first volume The Rain Wild Chronicles—Dragon Keeper. They also have a new synopsis—but don’t click that link if you don’t want to read spoilers!
Also, the HarperCollins page stills says the UK publication date for this first part is June 25^th (and the ISBN 978-0-00-727374-4) so I guess we can ignore the conflicting information about a July publication.

A Fantasy Medley soon out of print

If you’ve been planning on getting a copy of this anthology that contains Robin’s short story Words Like Coins, you should make an order soon! Subterranean Press reports that they are down to the last couple hundred copies of the trade edition, and the last 35-40 copies of the limited edition. “It will only take a few wholesaler/large online retailer order to take care of the trade edition, and we expect the limited to go out of print about the same time.”
Both editions are hardcovers, the trade edition is a print of 3000 copies, the limited edition is signed and numbered and of 200 copies. Words Like Coins is a story set in the Six Duchies. Published later this month, A Fantasy Medley is available for preorders through amazon.com as well as from the publisher’s site.
