New Robin Hobb audio books

Tantor Media has recently added more titles to their catalogue of Robin Hobb audio books. Assassin’s Quest and Mad Ship were released in early August, and yesterday also Ship of Destiny became available. Now the only major RH work not yet published in audio format is the Tawny Man trilogy (the Soldier Son trilogy was released previously in audio format by Recorded Books). Anne Flosnik is the narrator for the Liveship stories and Paul Boehmer reads the Farseer books. You can listen to samples from the books at Tantor’s page for Robin Hobb.

Robin to attend an event to promote literacy

On September 21^st, Robin will be participating in “Books by the Bay”, a fund raising event promoting literacy. The event will take place at the Olympia Golf and Country Club in Olympia, WA between 5 PM and 7 PM. More details at the official site and at the organizer’s site.

French graphic novel series continues with Molly

The 4^th part of the ongoing French graphic novel adaptation of the Farseer trilogy, L’Assassin Royal: Molly is now listed at amazon and has the publication date of September 22^nd.

The illustrator Christophe Picaud has also posted a sample page at his blog. (Looks like the Forged ones attacking Fitz to me).

French Dragon Keeper published this autumn

The Dragon Keeper will be published in French this autumn. As usual, the book will be split in two. The first part, Les cités des anciens, tome 1: Dragons et serpents will be published September 22^nd, and the second part, Les Eaux acides, November 17^th. (No word yet on when Dragon Haven will be out.)
What’s more, the publisher Pygmalion will launch a poster campaign in the Paris metro and an advertising campaign on radio Ouï FM for the new books!

Robin has posted the full back and front cover art for her upcoming short story anthology, the Inheritance. The front cover will feature Robin Hobb’s name and the back cover Megan Lindholm’s. The cat art is by Jackie Morris.

Jackie Morris has posted the finished cover for the Inheritance at her blog.

This books is an upcoming anthology of Megan Lindholm and Robin Hobb stories and has the publication date of 31^st March 2011 in the UK.

Voyager has confirmed the much-awaited Robin Hobb & Megan Lindholm anthology The Inheritance publication date of 31^st March 2011 in the UK. That’s 251 days to go (yes, we’re counting!) The cover hasn’t been officially released yet, but Jackie Morris has been posting progress photos of it in her blog and you can see what appears to be the final artwork here. As always, all the latest known details about the book can be found at our wiki.

An essay on the Triumph, paperback on the horizon

Rewinding back to April: Regulus and Classical Reception in Robin Hobb’s “The Triumph”—somehow this very thorough essay on Robin’s story The Triumph by Alex Tardiff had slipped past me unnoticed. It does contain some spoilers for the story, so unless you have already read the story or a familiar with the historical events it is based on, proceed with some caution.

The Triumph was published in March in an anthology titled Warriors. The book contains 20 brand new stories from authors such as Tad Williams, Peter S. Beagle, Naomi Novik, Diana Gabaldon, George R. R. Martin and many others. You can buy Warriors from amazon.com, amazon.co.uk or from the Book Depository (they ship free worldwide). Also, the paperback edition of Warriors is now available for preorders at amazon.com, it will be released on March 29^th 2011.

Waiting for the Inheritance? Countdown has begun!

The eagerly awaited Robin Hobb/Megan Lindholm anthology, the Inheritance, has officially emerged online with some publishing details. According to Robin, it was delivered to the publishers at the end of 2009, but it looks like it will be quite some time until we’ll get to read it. Amazon.co.uk now lists it, both a hardcover and a paperback edition, both complete with ISBNs (and you can even preorder the hardback already). But the publishing date for both editions is set to ~~March 31^st, 2011. That’s 305 days to go.~~ (Well, you can take that with a grain of salt until we get a confirmation from somewhere else. Those Megan Lindholm reprints amazon was promising last August still haven’t been published. But they usually are quite correct on publication dates for new titles.) Scratch that—the Inheritance is due in May 2011 as Robin just kindly noted in the comments of this post.

We can also expect another gorgeous cover from Jackie Morris for this anthology—she is also doing covers for repackaged The Reindeer People and Wolf’s Brother (no details on when these are coming out yet). You can always find the latest details about the Inheritance here at the wiki.

Luckily before next March, we’re going to get Songs of Love and Death in November—it’s a cross-genre anthology that contains a story titled Blue Boots by Robin Hobb. It’s already available for preorders too: amazon.co.uk, amazon.com, the Book Depository.

New Robin Hobb radio interview

Robin did a radio interview with Bonnie North at WUWM, Milwaukee Public Radio, on Monday. You can listen to it here on their website (scroll down, it’s the last item on the page). It’s about 15 minutes long and you can also download it as an mp3 file. It’s a really good interview—they discuss the advantages of the fantasy genre, how to pronounce Thymara and what was it like writing from the point of view of a dragon among other things. No spoilers, even though the basic plot of Dragon Haven is mentioned.

Royal Assassin now available in audio

Tantor Media has started to release audio book editions of Robin’s stories in the US. Assassin’s Apprentice, Ship of Magic and the Rain Wild Chronicles are already out there, and Royal Assassin, narrated by Paul Boehmer, was released yesterday. You can visit the Tantor site to listen to a sample. According to their site, the rest of the first two trilogies will follow later this year. We’ll keep you updated when they are available.

Robin Hobb in Wisconsin this week

The last leg of Robin’s Dragon Haven book tour takes place today and tomorrow in Milwaukee and in Mequon. Here are the details:
- 24^th of May: Boswell Book Company in Milwaukee, WI at 7PM.
- 25^th of May: Next Chapter Books in Mequon, WI at 7PM.

And that’s it for the US tour this year. If you didn’t get a chance to attend any of the events, but would like to own a signed copy of Dragon Haven, try contacting one of the bookshops she visited (see previous entries for details)—according to Robin, she also signed for stock in many of them. You can also try to contact SignedPage.com—they usually carry Robin’s books as well, although right now the website seems to indicate there are none in stock at the moment.

The US edition of Dragon Haven was published May 11^th as a hardcover and an audiobook. It is the second and concluding part of The Rain Wild Chronicles. The first volume, Dragon Keeper, was published in January.

Robin's Italian visit

Robin Hobb will be in Italy from June 12^th to 18^th. Besides visiting the Parma Fantasy weekend at the start of her visit, Robin will also tour the cities of Pavia, Milano, Firenze and Rome. You can see the schedule at her official site.

You can find more information about the Parma Fantasy festival and Robin’s visit here (in Italian) and the Italian publisher Fanucci has all the details of the Italian booktour at their website (also in Italian).
