A small engraved silver knife used to cut fruit with. After young Fitz refused Chade's task to steal something from King Shrewd's rooms, he openly took the knife so that the King could see what he was doing. This was because Chade had eventually revealed to him that the task was actually set by the King himself to test Fitz's loyalty. Two nights later when his lessons with Chade resumed, Fitz drove the knife into the wood of the mantel-shelf in Chade's tower room without saying a word. The knife was left in place.
