This is the fifth time a Megan Lindholm story has had its first appearance in the Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine. You can find out about the previous publications in the wiki.

Originally published in 1986 and set in Seattle, Wizard of the Pigeons has been described as an early example of the urban fantasy genre. It won the Imaginales best fantasy novel prize in 2004 after being translated to French as Le dernier magicien.

This new special hardcover edition features 10 full-colour illustrations by Magali Villeneuve and a new foreword from the author. The publisher plans to follow it up with illustrated editions of Royal Assassin and Assassin’s Quest.

Cloven Hooves is “contemporary” fantasy (although set several decades in the past at this point) and takes place in the US northwest. It was originally published in 1991 and the English language editions have been out of print for a long time. It was first published in French in 2004 as Le Dieu dans l’ombre—this June sees its third edtion in French with a new paperback from ActuSF.

The Book of Swords has also started to appear around the world in translations this year, including Bulgarian, Italian, Polish and Portuguese. It will also have a followup volume titled The Book of Magic in October, which will include a new Megan Lindholm story.

The Gemmell Awards have moved to the shortlist round of voting, and Assassin’s Fate is a finalist in two categories: for the Legend award for the 2017 best fantasy and for the Ravenheart Award, which is given to the best cover illustration. Also, the long-awaited Italian translation of Blood of Dragons will finally be published in July this year by Fanucci. The book will be released in hardcover, and the publisher is also planning a re-release of the entire Rain Wild Chronicles in paperback. There is no publication date yet, but the publisher Otava has added the cover to their online database. Only the Farseer and the Tawny Man trilogies have been translated into Finnish previously. For many of Robin’s Finnish readers, this news means a long wait of 12 years is almost over.

This will be the 10^th language the Fitz and the Fool trilogy will be translated into. All the existing editions and translations are listed in the wiki.

Fantasy Foundation in Taiwan is publishing the Rain Wild Chronicles in Chinese for the first time starting with The Dragon Keeper which was published in January, with the rest of the chronicles to follow soon.

A Polish translation of Fool’s Quest was released in January as well. It’s a hardcover edition from MAG, and the cover art is by Dominik Broniek.

This pretty Dutch box set edition of the Farseer trilogy was due to be published last autumn, but is seems to be unavailable in online shops. Any Dutch readers here who have managed to get one?
