New Lindholm story Generations coming in June

The next Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine will feature a brand new Megan Lindholm story titled Generations. This is the July/August 2020 issue, and it will be on sale on the 16th of June in both print and digital formats. If you aren’t currently a subscriber, you can also pick up single issues through various ebook sellers.

This is the fifth time a Megan Lindholm story has had its first appearance in the Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine. You can find out about the previous publications in the wiki.

New edition of Wizard of the Pigeons

A new paperback edition of the old Megan Lindholm story Wizard of the Pigeons is set to be published on the 19th of March 2020 in the UK. The cover art is by Jackie Morris and the book is already available for pre-ordering (UK amazon or bookdepository with free worldwide shipping).

Originally published in 1986 and set in Seattle, Wizard of the Pigeons has been described as an early example of the urban fantasy genre. It won the Imaginales best fantasy novel prize in 2004 after being translated to French as Le dernier magicien.

New editions of Cloven Hooves

A new paperback edition of the classic Megan Lindholm story Cloven Hooves is set to be published in August in the UK. The cover art has finally been made public, and the book is available for preordering (UK amazon, or bookdepository with free worldwide shipping).

Cloven Hooves is “contemporary” fantasy (although set several decades in the past at this point) and takes place in the US northwest. It was originally published in 1991 and the English language editions have been out of print for a long time. It was first published in French in 2004 as Le Dieu dans l’ombre—this June sees its third edtion in French with a new paperback from ActuSF.

Reserve your Second Chances for March

Unfettered III will be published on the 19th of March and with it there will be a new Megan Lindholm story. Second Chances is a dark ghost story set in the world of Reality TV. You can read an excerpt at tor.com.
The publisher of Unfettered III, Grim Oak Press, recently mentioned on a blog post that the first printing of the trade hardcover edition is set to 7500 copies and most of those are already reserved through various booksellers. Preordering now is wise if that’s the edition you want to own. Details on all the editions are listed at the wiki page. You can preorder from the publisher or from most major booksellers.

The Book of Magic is out next week

The fantasy anthology titled The Book of Magic that was edited by the late Gardner Dozois will finally be published next week. Included is a story by Megan Lindholm called Community Service. This will be our first meeting with Celtsie, a new protagonist who seems to be the one keeping Robin busy at the moment—one of her recent blog entries even mentions Celtsie in relation to writing a novel and planning a map of her world.

Here are the important details: the US edition (amazon, book depository) will be out on the 16th of October.
The UK edition (amazon, book depository) will be out on the 18th of October.
Both geographical editions will be available in hardcover, ebook and audio.
