She has knowledge of many crafts and subjects, including but not limited to: gardening/botany, pottery, paper making and tattoeing.

====Childhood====

Patience was known for her strangeness even as a child, refuses to learn more womanly crafts in favour of the often more obscure subjects she wanted to know. She also had a small romance with [[Burrich]], although it did not last, Burrich thinking her too good for him and his loyalty to Chivalry that kept him from leaving his duties. She had a dog, named [[Featherduster]].

When her parents visited Buckkeep, queen [[Constance]] noticed that Patience didn't enjoy the life in court and took her to the [[Queen's garden]], where they could be together without being disturbed and take care of the plants.

====Marriage====

The marriage of Chivalry and Patience was scorned because of the match gained nothing for the Farseer's - Patience's family was amiable with the throne and already had good trade links with them.

Later on, the marriage was dissaproved of because of the couple's inabilty to conceive a child, which was later proved to be caused by Patience's infertility when [[Fitz]] was born.

Weither out of jealousy or anger of her husbands betrayal, Patience persuaded her husband to step down from his position as King-In-Waiting and retire to [[Withywoods]]. The two lived here in relative peace and quiet, with Chivalry learning the ways of the land, until his death from what was publically called a riding accident.

====Buckkeep====

After Chivalry's death, Patience moved to [[Buckkeep]] Castle along with her maid and closest friend [[Lacey]], to oversee the upbringing of Fitz and to protect him. He studied various subjects with her, from musical instruments to the knowledge of plants, through he learnt more from what she said and did in passing then the inconsistent lessons she taught. She pushed for Fitz to learn the [[Skill]].

Her horse was called [[Silk]] and it was trained by Burrich. She also had a terrier, [[Snowflake]], which was the mother of [[Smithy]]. Patience gave the puppy to Fitz.

She was one of the few that were left behind at Buckkeep castle when [[Regal]] moved to [[Tradeford]], but turned the situation around to her favour, and where Regal ignored the needs of the [[Six Duchies]], Patience gave all she could so that the [[Red Ship Raiders]] might be repelled, knowing that if Buckkeep fell, so would the Six Duchies.

When rumours came about that [[Verity]] was still alive, Patience was one of the few that supported and encouraged it, declaring Regal's false claim to the throne.

====Tradeford====

After the [[Red Ship War]] and Queen Kettricken ascended her throne, Patience was given Tradeford to rule over and turned it from the centre of Regal's bloody rule to a place of peace and prosperity. The most noticable change she made was the transformation of the [[King's Circle]] into a beautiful garden.

====Withywoods====

At the end of [[Fool's Fate]], Lacey passed away, leaving Patience alone. She decided then to move back to Withywood's (which she had given to [[Molly]] under the assumption that Chivalry would have wanted Burrich or his family to have it) with Fitz and his family, where she currently resides.

Originally from [[Lees]] in [[Chalced]], Prince [[Chivalry (King-In-Waiting)|Chivalry's]] right hand man, foster-father of [[Fitz]]. Also called [[Heart of the Pack]].

== Looks & skills ==

He is well-built, his hair and beard are black, and his eyes are brown. His face is narrow and square and tanned. He has long-fingered and clever hands. Burrich is described to be a stubborn, honest, forthright and a little melancholic. He keeps his business to himself. He is attractive to the ladies, who would like to tame him and try to lift his dark moods. He is an impressive character: only with his look and a word he could keep a whole room full of rough men in discipline.

Burrich has the [[Wit]], but has never received any education on how to use it. Burrich doesn't have the [[Skill]]. He is mentioned to have served prince Chivalry as a [[King's man]] by giving him power for the use of his Skill, so he may have had some Skill ability. But Chivalry used his Skill to block Burrich, so that he couldn't be used against him with Skill.

Burrich has injured his right leg badly in a hunting accident, protecting Chivalry from a wild boar. He limps.

== Childhood ==

Burrich's father had died before he was born. Her grand-mother was a slave, who won her freedom from the [[Butran]] clan. She got [[earring|a freedom earring]] to prove she was free. Burrich's mother supported her and Burrich by doing laundry. As a young boy Burrich formed a [[Wit-bond]] with a mongrel, [[Slash]]. The animal taught him how to survive in the streets and acted as a kind of a father figure to Burrich. A drawback in the Witbond was that Burrich didn't have a normal childhood, as the dog had too much influence on him. When the dog was kicked by a horse and died, Burrich was only eight years old. In [[Old Blood]] communities, this relationship with the dog would have been viewed as inappropriate as they believe that a bond animal and a person must both benefit from their wit-bond equally, and they would also view him as being too young to find an appropriate animal to bond with. He then turned to his grandmother for guidance.

When Burrich was about thirteen years old, his mother and grandmother died in an epidemic of a [[Blood plague]]. Now alone, he became a mercenary. He was taken prisoner in a Chalced skirmish and made a slave. Finally he was able to escape and sought refuge in the [[Six Duchies]]. There he became a horsekeeper for [[Grizzle]], Duke of [[Shoaks]]. He Wit-bonded again, this time with a young stallion, [[Neko]]. This bond ended with the animal dying, too. When Burrich was forced to live through the great pain of losing a second bondmate, he decided never to use his Wit again.

== Chivalry's man ==

Burrich was brought to Chivalry for judgement after he had brawled with his comrades. Burrich and Chivalry got along well, as they were about the same age. He swore an oath to serve Chivalry, and this bond was so deep that not even love for [[Patience]] could become between Burrich and his master. As a token of this loyalty Burrich gave his grandmother's earring to Chivalry, this perhaps being symbolical for him giving away his freedom and becoming totally Chivalry's man. Chivalry was the measure of a man for him that he didn't have in his childhood.

Chivalry's abdication leaves Burrich without someone organising his world. Added to this, he is recovering from a severe injury when forced to recognise that the master he had lifted to a pedestal is not wholly without error. Nevertheless he does his best to meet the final order Chivalry gave him, to take care of the bastard, Fitz. Disappointment and the leg injury added together change Burrich. He becomes gloomier, more ill-tempered and withdrawn, "the Old Burrich", as he is called, even if he still is only in his thirties. However, he still has a great sense of honour to the Farseers.

After Chivalry abdicated, Burrich became the Stablemaster at [[Buckkeep]] and was left to bring up his old masters illegitimate child, Fitz. As a stable master Burrich's duties are to look after Buckkeep's horses, dogs and hawks, and he does this with care and skill.

== Foster-father to Fitz ==

Burrich was in an emotional turmoil when he got Fitz to be his ward. He tried to bring him up well, to obey his master's last command. But for a child he seemed to be distant and sometimes cruel. Burrich had only raised puppies and foals and he tries those methods to Fitz, too. Burrich has problems with showing his emotions so Fitz doesn't know that he cares for him deeply. He only sees tyrant who took away a puppy, [[Nosy]], with whom he has bonded to and kill it. As Fitz keeps using his Wit even if Burrich tries to warn him off, their relationship is hard and they have a big falling out after Burrich finds out about [[Nighteyes]].

Eventually they make up and Burrich helps Fitz escape [[Regal|Regal's]] dungeons by helping him to die. He then helps Fitz to find his humanity again, but after some [[Forged]] attack the cabin while he's away, he thinks they killed Fitz and he has failed his master. He then goes to find [[Molly]] and the child Fitz has fathered.

== Burrich and Molly ==

Molly and Burrich become friends and as they both presume that Fitz is dead, there is nothing preventing them to fall in love. They both have had a love affair in their youth that has ended badly. Together they find happiness. Burrich accepts Fitz's child as his and is even ready to take a false oath for reputation and safety of Molly and the child. This proves his total commitment to this new relationship. Under normal circumstances Burrich, who values honesty and trust, would never do such a thing. Because Fitz is beyond his help, he does everything he can to protect his daughter, [[Nettle]].

In the end of the [[Farseer trilogy]] we are told that Molly and Burrich are already expecting their second mutual child. For Burrich, the Farseer trilogy has a happy ending. He has the woman he loves as a wife, children and horses to take care of and he doesn't have to serve anyone anymore.

: Yes, we could do references by book and chapter. Another option is to build a timeline (or probably several) with a tool like [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EasyTimeline this]. As I've tried to keep the articles free from references to the books, I'd prefer a timeline system, but I'm always willing to hear other opinions. Timelines might be more difficult build, I think we'd need to figure out some kind of "x years after Fitz was born" or "so-and-so's reign" system. I've started to wonder whether we should have a reference system after all. I didn't want one in the beginning, because my experience with book-ish wikis is that they are quite unneeded and make the article pages look messy. Minor characters would be easy to handle, because it would probably mean a very short note like "introduced in AA (chapter) 3, mentioned again in GF 15" but how should we handle references for characters that appear in 6 to 9 books? I feel that the time and energy would be better directed to just adding more things to the wiki in general. Of course this wouldn't be such a problem with new articles in the future as we could make those reference notes at the time of adding the article. Because I'm going to start expanding this wiki to cover other Hobb/Lindholm works as well soon, this would be a good time to decide whether we need/want references or not. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 02:16, 21 January 2008 (EET)

==Templates==
For a long time I have planned to "open" this wiki to other Hobb stories besides the RotE ones. I figured that the best way the script allows us to do this, is to use little boxes that are really templates to mark all the articles depending on which fictional universe they belong. I have made some drafts for those and added the RotE one to the [[Fitz]] article for example - please let me know what you think. The idea is that the template can be altered at any point without having to go through hundreds of pages making the same change (of course the template has to be added to those pages first though! :D) So it doesn't matter if we've used the template already to mark articles and then want to change something in it. :: I think I actually placed them all over the place when I tested them. It shouldn't be too hard to fix though once we reach some kind of a consensus about this. I do agree that they are more easy to spot when they're on top, especially if the article is lengthy. This is something I've meant to do for a long time. If anyone feels it should be different, feel free to suggest changes! My main concern is to keep this all non-profit, and I would like to allow copying, because it makes collaborations with other sites easier. I chose "No Derivative Works" because I don't see the point of someone copying everything and then adding stuff to it elsewhere - although I don't know how likely that scenario is. What do you all think? Should the derivative works be allowed?

:I'm really starting to think we should allow derivative works since I've already agreed to let the Rivages Maudits people use our material (and we can use theirs) so it would be kind of pointless to keep making exceptions to the rule, right? * I've crated the first bunch of [[:Category:File licensing templates|file licensing templates]] - some of the wording still needs a bit of work but I was staring at the coding for so long I need a little break from that. :D These were basically designed to fit the files we already have, which are mostly cover images. Once I've gone through all the files applying them (I've got 600+ out of ~1000 left atm) and figured what needs to be added/changed, I'll also look into ones that could be applied to fan art (currently the only one for that is "grant permission for this wiki specifically" but ideally I'd like to add all the CC licenses at least). --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 10:39, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

* I also started adding categories for files. Some of them (images of character x, art by y) could actually be useful in the future, mostly it's just categorising the mass into smaller chunks - it might make it easier to find a certain file though, especially since some of the old file names are just random numbers and the descriptions are half empty so the Search function might struggle to find them.
