Waiting for the Inheritance? Countdown has begun!

29 May, 2010 filed under: Robin Hobb, Megan Lindholm, England/UK

The eagerly awaited Robin Hobb/Megan Lindholm anthology, the Inheritance, has officially emerged online with some publishing details. According to Robin, it was delivered to the publishers at the end of 2009, but it looks like it will be quite some time until we’ll get to read it. now lists it, both a hardcover and a paperback edition, both complete with ISBNs (and you can even preorder the hardback already). But the publishing date for both editions is set to March 31st, 2011. That’s 305 days to go. (Well, you can take that with a grain of salt until we get a confirmation from somewhere else. Those Megan Lindholm reprints amazon was promising last August still haven’t been published. But they usually are quite correct on publication dates for new titles.) Scratch that—the Inheritance is due in May 2011 as Robin just kindly noted in the comments of this post.

We can also expect another gorgeous cover from Jackie Morris for this anthology—she is also doing covers for repackaged The Reindeer People and Wolf’s Brother (no details on when these are coming out yet). You can always find the latest details about the Inheritance here at the wiki.

Luckily before next March, we’re going to get Songs of Love and Death in November—it’s a cross-genre anthology that contains a story titled Blue Boots by Robin Hobb. It’s already available for preorders too:,, the Book Depository.

Just a quick note! I’ve updated my Appearances at with all my stops for the Italy tour that is coming up. Less than two weeks away now and I’m very excited.

I’ve also put in my 2011 dates for France and Belgium! Imaginales, Trolls & Legendes, and Saint-MaloEtonnants Voyageurs! It’s going to be a very European year for me!

The US edition of The Inheritance is scheduled for May, 2011.

Oh, and tomorrow I’m to do a radio interview with John Batchelor ( ). We’ll be chatting at about 3:45 Pacific Time, but I think he keeps interviews up on his site as well.

Thanks for being interested!

Random quote

I watch him come, stepping with elven grace, hooves entering and leaving the stream without so much as a splash.
Slanting sunlight through the branches gleams his flanks, polishes his high cheekbones, is swallowed in the darkness of his eyes. When he moves his head, light ricochets off his horns. I do not move or speak.
His cloven hooves cut deep into the moss, scoring the rich earth below the green carpet. It is no longer the friend of my childhood who stands there, but the forest god, the hooved and horned one beholding an intruder in his domain.
