"To Do" list
Where to start? Here's a few ideas of things you can start working with.:
* list of books, editions and translations: I just received the material from Willem's old site. Does someone (Sini? ;)) want to start working with it? MerviList of most wanted pages 21:36, 29 May 2006 (EEST)these are articles that don't yet exist but are being linked to from other articles. Maybe you could help by adding content to some of them so they are created? Just click on a red link and start writing.
* Liveship Traders books need indexing. Even Looking for a list specific page to edit? Choose one of every character/place/important object would be really helpful, you don't have to add them to all the database one by one yourselfexisting pages.
* Fitz always needs some attention. It's the fourth List of most wanted pagespopular pageand the most linked to page. You don't yet exist but other articles are trying to link to. Maybe you could help by need summarise his whole life on one go, just adding content to some of them so they are created? Just click on the red links bits and start writingpieces helps a lot.
* And there's also a list The cast of all existing pages if you don't want to create new pages. Simply choose one characters of these and start adding information. * [[Fitz]Blue Boots] needs some attention. It's the second most popular page, the most linked to page and the one with most categories, and we only have the draft I made in the beginning. I realize it's going to be one leeeeenghty article, but even if some of you could devote a little time to write a section or two for starters, that would be great. :) * The friendly folks over at the French site Rivages Maudits have agreed to exchange information with us. I don't know if many of you know French, is listed but at least the bits about the French editions are quite understandable - even to me! :D Feel free to dig in and use anything we donhaven't got their articles yet have. :)  updated by --Mervi 02:39Just click on the red links, 2 October 2006 (EEST)don’t be shy!
* Any and all of the books and stories can always do with more work. The Megan Lindholm titles have publishing information from Willem's records up to about 2002, but any new editions and translations after that are likely still missing. Even if you only have the name of the translation or the knowledge that one exists, please do add it! Others can add publisher, date, ISBN etc as that info comes available.
** Assassin's Apprentice, while still a work in progress, is currently a good template for a book page. Adding a small synopsis for each is a good idea as well, but please leave out any major spoilers!
** The friendly folks over at the French site Les Rivages Maudits have agreed to exchange information with us. If you know French and can mine information about their editions, sweet!

This hopefully prevents several of us doing the same things simultaneouslything needlessly.A lot of these "claims" are several years old now, so if you see anything uncompleted here that you'd like to work on, please don't hesitate to do so. --Mervi (talk) 23:49, 28 June 2014 (EEST)

* General updates about the wiki can now be found at the forums : things like new features, added extensions etc.
* <strike>characters from Homecoming</strike> listed
* <strike>listing Farseer trilogy characters</strike> A-W is complete, as well as the place names from Jarmo's site.
* <strike>Characters and places from Fool's Errand</strike> have been listed, but the articles of course still need more material
* <strike>the Golden Fool is in the process of being indexed,</strike> and Fool's Fate is next in line after that
* <strike>I've just upgraded the script, please let me know if you find anything that doesn't work or acts strangely. I've been trying to get rid of the unnecessary and annoying "Jump to: navigation, search" line on top of every page all day, but so far haven't managed to do that. (Edit protection was broken as was file uploads, both have been fixed.)</strike>* most of the material from Willem's concerning the Lindholm novels (but not short stories) is listed now - the pages are still very incomplete, though. I think I'll finish indexing FF first and then go back to the book editions unless someone else wants to take them as a project.* <strike>the script has been updated (yes, again) and the layout changed a bit. Please let me know if you have any problems!* editing works again! I'm so sorry it took this long to find a fix. Please let me know if you have any problems with the wiki now. :)</strike>* <strike>the script has been updated once again, please let me know if you encounter problems!</strike>* fighting spammers. Last night, I upgraded the script to the latest version, hoping that there might have been a security fix included, but obviously there wasn't since the spamming continues. Mediawiki doesn't allow even the SysOp to delete members, only block them. I could do that manually at the database, but that is strongly advised against, as it might generate errors in the script. I'm currently looking into hacks and other tricks to make spamming more difficult - the sad news is that this will further increase the steps everyone has to take in order to edit articles. I'd love to keep this site easy to access and edit for everyone, but as things are, I must require registering etc.* I've installed an extension that asks you to perform a simple math task (even I can do these, they're so easy ;D) whenever you're trying to add external links to an article. It also prompts new users to do the same when registering. I hope this will help, but please let me know if you have any problems using it!* The MediaWiki script has been upgraded to the latest version - please let me know of any possible problems, I did see some minor errors during the installation. I'm also working on a skin that would "merge" the wiki with the rest of the site, making navigating back and forth easier, but completing that might take awhile.* Oookay. First of all, my apologies that I still haven't updated the newest skin. I'll try to find time to do it soon. I did upgrade the script during the server move, and changed the license as we discussed. (Can't even remember where that happened, though.) I have some files saved for the cover galleries, I'll upload them after I've finished the skin. Also, it seems that some spam bots have taken interest on this wiki again, so I might have to disable anonymous editing (again) if it continues. -- Mervi 17:29, 12 November 2008 (UTC)* Anonymous editing has been disabled again to prevent spamming. Sorry. :/ --Mervi 15:59, 10 December 2008 (UTC)* Okay. The main site navigation should now work, although some pixels aren't quite in the right places in some browsers. As always, let me know if something doesn't work. I've also re-installed a new version of confirm edit. This should ask you to perform a simple math task whenever you try to add an external link and when a new user registers. It shouldn't (at this point) bug you when making normal edits. If it does, I'll try to fix it. Let's hope this will keep the spam bots at bay for awhile. -- Mervi 22:58, 5 January 2009 (UTC)* I have once again upgraded the script. I also talked to my host about the image uploading problems we've had recently (file uploads but you can't display the smaller versions). It seems to be fixed for now, but some recently updated pages are now broken. :/ Please be patient while I try to solve this. --Mervi 11:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)* I have finally managed to fix the errors with broken images and some pages. In the end I had to manually reupload some of the missing images. Please let me know if you stumble upon any more broken images! --Mervi 10:33, 22 June 2009 (UTC)* I have just enabled email authentification for new accounts, I hope this prevents at least some of the spam we've seen lately.
* We're reading AA over at a Tolkien forum I co-admin, and I'll be going through the chapters adding bits and pieces here. Our schedule is quite slow, so it will probably be January before I'm through the whole book. --Mervi 11:31, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
* I just added Trying to get the whole cast rest of characters to Blue Boots so thatWillem's a good starting place for anyone wanting to start some new articles about these new 6D residents! info published, that mostly means early editions and translations of RH titles. --Mervi 16(talk) 23:3849, 10 December 2010 28 June 2014 (UTCEEST)

*I'm really starting to think we should allow derivative works since I've already agreed to let the Rivages Maudits people use our material (and we can use theirs) so it would be kind of pointless to keep making exceptions to the rule, right? If noone disagrees or has any comments, I'm going to alter the license next time I upgrade the script. -- Mervi 16:09, 13 March 2008 (EET)
