==Generally speaking==
The use of character names, places, book titles, cover art and trademarks etc are here for informational purposes only. It doesn't change their copyright which belongs to and stays with the author (and/or other parties).

== Adding content: text ==
Please do not "copy and paste" and place here anything without a permission from the copyright holders. If you see a character profile or similar that you would like to use in a website, try to contact the webmaster and ask their permission. Usually it's best to try to write your own articles from the scratch, checking the details from the only reliable source - the books!

== Adding content: images ==
When using somebody's art, always credit them properly and if possible, provide a link back to their homepage/gallery. Always ask permission from the artist unless it's one of the following known cases:

* John Howe has graciously allowed the use of his work according to [http://www.john-howe.com/forum/smf/index.php?topic=1910.0 these terms] which I believe this project meets.
* Michael Whelan '''does not''' [http://www.michaelwhelan.com/faq.asp?vsPage=faq#copyright allow neither commercial nor non-commercial use of his work]. Please respect that.
* To my best knowledge [http://stephenyoull.com/ Stephen Youll] hasn't said anything about the subject matter, so we will treat the use of his work in a project like this as "fair use" under the US copyright law unless otherwise told.
* Maija Pietikäinen [http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/art/m/a/maija/maija.html has kindly allowed the use of her work] as long as the pictures are not altered other than scaled to fit the page.

If you know of any other Hobb artists that have either given the permission or denied it (generally or specifically for this project), please add them to this page. Try to also provide verification of their terms.

== Your copyright? ==
According to the wikipedia tradition, whenever you add something to these pages, you grant the right for others to copy, edit and remove it. The elements of the information aren't yours to begin with, and the text you wrap them in is part of a shared effort.
