Drum Machine is a short story by Megan Lindholm first published in The Inheritance anthology.

It is a story set in the future where genetically engineered designer babies are the socially acceptable norm. The protagonist, an ex-musician by the name of Chesterton is working as a Social Interface in the state's Reproductive Permits.
